INDUCTION

On behalf of Bishop Townshend, the Venerable Jane Humphreys will induct the Reverend Ryan Boivin as the rector of St. Andrew’s, LaSalle and of St. David and St. Mark, Windsor at 3:00 pm on Sunday, February 27, 2022 at St. Andrew’s, LaSalle.

The preachers will be the Clergy of the Sent, the Reverends Elise Chambers, Robert Clifford, Sharla Malliff, and Paul Poolton.  

 

RETIREMENT

Bishop Townshend has accepted the request of the Reverend Canon Keith Nethery to retire effective December 31, 2022.  Canon Keith was ordained a deacon in June 1995 in Calgary and priested in May 1996. He came on the strength of Huron in August 2002. 

He has served the parishes of St. Luke’s, Crumlin, St. George’s-on-the-Wye, Thorndale, Christ Church, Lakeside and St. John’s, Thamesford; St. Stephen’s, London; Holy Trinity-St. Stephen’s, London; Christ Church, Glanworth; and St. James’ Westminster, London.  He has served on the Diocesan Council, the Huron Church News Committee, the Sesquicentennial Planning Committee, the Local Arrangements Committee for the House of Bishops, the Communications Committees, Life and Faith, the Huron Church Camp Advisory Board, the Strategic Plan Implementation Group and as the Diocesan Media Officer and the Diocesan Communications Officer. 

He was named a Canon of the Cathedral in May 2015.

Canon Keith will be honoured with the other retirees in the spring.  

Bishop Townshend has accepted the request of The Venerable Sam Thomas to retire effective September 30, 2022 with his last day in the parish being Sunday, June 26, 2022. 

Archdeacon Sam was ordained a deacon on May 1, 1985 and priested on November 11th of that year.  He has served the parishes of Church of the Ascension, Windsor; St. Hilda’s-St. Luke’s, St. Thomas and St. Michael and All Angels, London. 

He has also served on Diocesan Council, Diocesan Sub-Council, the Bishop's Chaplain Committee, the Nominating Committee, the Postulancy Board, the Committee on Assistance to Theological Students, the Council of Advice, the Ontario Provincial Committee on Theological Education, General Synod’s Congregational Development Committee and as Regional Dean of Delaware.

Archdeacon Sam was named a Canon of the Cathedral on May 25, 2003 and appointed the Archdeacon of Erie January 1, 2012 and the Archdeacon of London September 9, 2013.

Archdeacon Sam will be honoured with the other retirees at an event in June.
