RETIREMENTS
Bishop Townshend has accepted the request of the Reverend Jenny Sharp to retire effective December 31, 2022.
Jenny was ordained a deacon in May 2008 and priested in March of 2009. She served the parishes of Church of the Ascension, London, Christ Church, Camlachie and St. John-in-the-Wilderness, Brights Grove before moving to the Diocese of Nova Scotia and PEI. In 2017, Jenny returned to the Diocese of Huron as the rector of St. James, St. Marys, the position from which she is retiring. She has served on the Postulancy Board, the Budget Sub-Committee, the Catechumenate Network, as Co-Chair of the Companion Diocese Relationship Committee, on Diocesan council and as the Regional Dean of Huron/Perth. Jenny will be honoured with the other retirees at Synod.
Bishop Townshend has accepted the request of the Venerable Willi Kammerer to retire effective December 31, 2022.
Archdeacon Willi was ordained a deacon in May 2001 and a priest in May 2002. He has served the parishes of St. John’s, Strathroy with St. Ann’s Adelaide and St. Martin-in-the-Fields, London from which he is retiring. Archdeacon Willi also served as the Director of Human Resources for the Diocese of Huron and as the Archdeacon of Middlesex.
He was a member of the Postulancy Board, the Compensation Sub-Committee, the Human Resources Committee, the Safe Church Committee, Diocesan Council, the Bishop’s Clergy Conference Planning Committee, the Corporation of Huron University College, the Diocesan Executive Staff, the Archives Committee, the Health and Safety Committee, the Bishop Luxton Memorial Scholarship Committee and the McConnell Trust Fund Committee, the Committee on Assistance to Theological Students, the Council of Advice, the Bishop’s Group, the Mutual Ministry Committee and the Committee on the Revision of Constitution and Canons as well as chairing the Deacons’ Board. He served as the Regional Dean of Medway, was named Canon Register in February 2008 and in October 2009 was titled the Archdeacon of the Thames Valley. Archdeacon Willi will be honoured with the other retirees at Synod.
APPOINTMENTS
Bishop Townshend appoints the Right Reverend Robert Bennett as the interim bishop-in-charge of the Cathedral Church of St. Paul, effective November 1, 2022.
Bishop Townshend appoints the Right Reverend Barry Clarke as the bishop-in-charge of St. Paul’s, Port Dover effective November 1, 2022.
Bishop Townshend appoints Mr. Jamie Baxter as Lay Pastor of St. James the Apostle, Port Lambton and St. James the Apostle, Wallaceburg effective October 15, 2022.
RESIGNATION
Bishop Townshend has accepted the resignation of the Reverend Victor Kischak as the rector of Holy Saviour, Waterloo effective November 15, 2022. Victor has accepted an appointment by the Bishop of Niagara to be the rector of St. George’s, Guelph.
